About Bass Guitars
The bass guitar is a stringed instrument that provides the low-end foundation in nearly every style of modern music. Typically featuring four strings (though five- and six-string versions are common), it's tuned an octave lower than the standard guitar and plays a crucial role in rhythm and harmony.
History
The electric bass guitar was invented in the 1930s, but it was Leo Fender’s 1951 Precision Bass that truly revolutionized music. Unlike the bulky upright bass, the Precision was portable, easier to amplify, and ideal for rock, jazz, funk, and pop. Over the decades, the bass evolved with iconic models like the Fender Jazz Bass and innovations from brands like Gibson, Music Man, and Ibanez. Today, the bass is essential to both live and studio performances, shaping the groove and feel of countless genres.
