Bach Inventions & Sinfonias BWV772-801
Bach Inventions & Sinfonias BWV772-801
The Inventions and Sinfonias, contemporaneous with the first part of the Well-Tempered Clavier, even more than the latter indicate clearly that keyboard instruction in Bachs day was at the same time instruction in composition.
The musical text of the present edition follows Bachs fair copy of 1723 and includes in the Appendix ornamented versions from manuscripts from Bachs circle.
Selected piano pieces from Brenreiters Urtext catalogue are published with fingerings. (The well-known Brenreiter Urtext editions without fingerings remain in print as before).
These new volumes combine the definitive Urtext from the New Complete Editions with tried and tested fingerings from well-known pianists and teachers. They also contain notes on interpretation.
Renate Kretschmar-Fischer is one of the outstanding and most successful piano teachers of our times. She has worked with Arthur Schnabel, Monique Haas, Georges Enescu, Nadia Boulanger and Igor Stravinsky. She belongs to the honorary board of trustees of the World Federation of Chopin Societies and has been a jury member at many national and international competitions.
