Klezmer, the secular Jewish music from Eastern Europe, continues to weave its magic spell.

This volume offers all the material you need for authentic performances of new and familiar pieces. Henner Diederich, a teacher of folk music and arrangement at the Cologne Musikhochschule, has gained a reputation with his many publications, especially in the klezmer field. Here he presents twelve klezmer arrangements for variable ensemble: melody, counter-melody, guitar chords and bass line.

The twelve pieces are arranged for an open scoring , i.e. you can choose the instruments, add octave doublings, leave out voices or improvise your own ideas to suit your taste. They offer a glimpse into the typically bittersweet melody and harmony of Yiddish music , which emerged from a mixture of Yid-dish, Slavic, Rumanian and German stylistic elements and is currently undergoing a revival in the folk music scene.

Score with chords and 6 parts:
Melody I in C (Voice, Guitar, Flute)
Melody II in C (Violin, Oboe, Mallets)
Melody I in B-flat (Clarinet, Soprano Saxophone)
Melody II in B-flat (Trumpet, Tenor Saxophone)
Melody III in C/B-flat
Bass (Double Bass, Bass Guitar, Cello)

combocom is Brenreiters series of music for variable ensemble. Each volume contains a full score for piano, keyboard or guitar, melody parts (in C, B-flat, and E-flat) and a part for bass instrument.

combocom also offers suggestions for using percussion. It thus permits a wide range of instrumental combinations: if the violin takes the top part, the saxophone can play the counter-melody and the cello the bass while the guitar strums the specified chords.

But many other combinations are possible too, whether at home, at school, or in a genuine band, combo or buskers' ensemble...
