Tovey Comp to Beethovens Pno Sonatas

The new revised edition (2004) of Tovey's definitive bar-by-bar analysis of Beethoven's 32 Pianoforte Sonatas.

This impression is prefaced by an introduction by Barry Cooper, Professor of Music at the University of Manchester.

Tovey's text is reproduced faithfully, and Barry Cooper has also added footnotes to correct errors of fact or to qualify conclusions drawn by Tovey that the passage of time, since the book was first published in 1931, has suggested might be questionable.
